If you had a million dollars what set up would you buy? What bass? What cab and head?

I would have Jim Triggs make me an exact copy of a old Gibson EB1.
600 watts of Boogie power with 2 cabs.

I'd give a huge chunk to my kids
another chunk to Jesus,
a chunk tucked away for a rainy day and I'd be happy.

i would invest about 98% of it wisely so that i wouldnt have to worry about money ever again.

the remaining 20 grand would be spent on some musical gear....

fodera emperor 5
martin keith singlecut 5(soon to be under construction)
r-bass 4 string
lakland 44-02
lakland jo 4
lakland bob glaub 4
fretless roscoe skb 6
fretted roscoe skb 6
epifani 902 head
epifani ul 3x10
epifani ul 2x12

end of gas for grady king.

A) Start searching for a really nice DB--about $30K ought to do.

B) Buy up a few pre-Gibson Steinberger models. I love my XM-2, but I want a 5 string version, and I'd love an L

C) Alembic Series 2. Always wanted one.

D) Head over to Meyer Sound to pick out the cabinets I'll be using with the SVT I get from eBay and the SVT-VR I'll order.

E) Invest, invest, invest. I don't want to go back to work after getting a million bucks, ever.

Rather than listing each individual bass I would own, because listing the models/specs would take too long, Ill just give the basic idea;

Music Man Sterling(s)
Nordstrand SC4(s)
MTD 435(s)
Fodera Monarch(s)
Zon Sonus 4(s)
Benavente SCD 4(s)
and one ERB for good measure, probably nordstrand sc6.

Amp wise: Epifani UL502/PS600 and UL310
Glockenklang Soul with UL610

andddddd invest of course

An extra $1M wouldn't set off a gear spree here.

It would be enough to get me to consider trying to shift my day job to 51% status. More time to play. No more dragin' my butt in after a gig or late night session.

Now that wouldn't suck...

I would keep the gear I have, get another Schroeder 410 or 412, maybe an EA NM410, and another QSC or Crest power amp. The remaining money would go towards my mission to ban every reality TV and American Idol type TV garbage being forced down our throats!!!!!!!!

I would grab:
  • Lakland 55-94
  • MM Sterling
  • Ric 4003
  • classic Hofner
  • '62 Fender P w/mojo
  • Ampeg tube amp/cab stack
  • a trip to find/buy more high-end gear
The rest would go to pay off my home, set up my 4 kids for school, some to retirement, and find an EASY job. Maybe I'd start a gear-building business, do the eBay thing, and make just enough to pay the utilities and keep the wife happy.

I'd just get the first flight to Bowlus's house and bring a boat load of cash and have the moving truck meet me there (he would have to toss in the basement carpet to sweeten the deal!) !

I don't know if I'd buy that much bass gear. I definitely don't need any more amp stuff, that's for sure. I'd probably get six or seven Stambaughs and be good to go.

What I'd do is pay off the house and my car, bank a ton, then buy a tour bus and do whatever it takes to get my band on the road full time.

Not much, actually.

Basses -
Villiette 6 string fretless

Amp stuff -
LDS neo 2x8 3-way
LDS neo 1x12 3-way
Tuck money away for a new tube head that actually looks appealing (unlike about anything on the market ... Fender front end with 200 watts in a head, not rackmount).

That's enough for my needs.

I'd take about $100,000 and buy a nice chunk of property in NW Montana to build a house on later. The rest would be invested.

As said B4- invest what I can so I don't have to have a day job...... Pay of house, go on Holiday-loooong one!

Ric 4003
Nice ol 60's P & J Fenders
Gibson Ripper/Grabber
Jack Cassady Bass
SVT-VR(that'd be all- No $$$ left-they cost SO much in Australia!!! )
Find an ol' '60's B15
SVT-2 non pro- if no VR -either / or
SVT810

SOME ROADIES & a VAN to move gear

SChroeder - whole line- coz I can't try any out here...so why not?

If it were $100 Million - a house in London, New York city, L.A. , Tuscany, Sydney, Cairns, Jamaica, Thailand......

I would buy 39,500 Little Smokey Amps and spend the remainder on enough George L cable and plugs to connect them all in series, batteries for all of them, and whatever bass I could afford with the change left over.
