I have a G515D (double bass case) and a G315. The iGIG cases are amazing. It was between these and MONO cases, but iGIG have a lot more pockets.
The G515D is great for gigs when you need 2 basses and carry a lot of cables. If you have a micro amp you would be able to even put it in the gig bag (i.e. Genz Benz Streamliner). My shuttle max 9.2 does NOT fit however. I can make one trip to the car by carrying 2 basses on my back, a shoulder bag carrying my amp head and extra cables, and my arms carrying my cab.
The G315 is my go to bag when I am playing at church or a jam with friends where if my bass goes down it isn't crucial. It doesn't have all the pockets that the G515 does but does have a nice built in rain fly that covers the outside.
The only thing I may add in the future is a hard shell case that is empty (i.e. Pelican 1750 with no foam) so I can place my gig bag inside for added protection on long hauls, but still have the flexibilty of the gig bag when I am on site.
G515D
G315

I went with the MONO because I could buy one locally...it's a great bag! It has tons of protection for your investment and a few nice pockets for storage.
MONO customer service is also great! The pull tab on the zipper broke the first week and Brian at the Low End, where I purchased it, had his MONO rep contact me and I had a new one at my door in 2 days!
If I had to buy another one I would look into iGig, but it'd be tough to beat a MONO! |

Lots of padding, extremely light weight, tons of storage, and very high American build quality. Mooradian has been making some of the best upright bass bags for at least 30 years.
The Mono is a great bag too. Very limited storage.
The igig is also very good. Lots of storage but weighs a freakin ton. You could get a hernia from an igig double bag with all your stuff in the pockets.
For ultimate storage and protection, you might look at the new Access Level five hybrid bag. Very nice. |

| | Must. Stop. Buying. Basses. Errrrkkkk!!!! | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Roseville, CA | | | I haven't tried the others, but I have a Mono M80 Single and an M80 Dual.
I am totally comfortable with the protection they provide for pretty much any situation except checking it as luggage on an airplane or putting other, heavy, gear on top of it.
I like that the Mono cases are waterproof.
My only wish list items for the Mono cases are:
- a way to easily stow an Ultimate stand somewhere in/on it.
- bigger and/or more pockets on the front. As it is, it holds my 3' power extension cord, Korg pocket tuner, Sansamp BDDI, Sansamp power supply, instrument cable, patch cable for SA to amp, and a Planet Waves Bass strap, with no trouble at all. But, if it could hold all that and my Promethean head (and an Ultimate stand - or 2, in the Dual bag), then my satisfaction would be complete. Oh, and, as it is, I can stuff an Ultimate stand in the pocket on the back side and have done numerous times. It just makes the overall bag thicker than it needs to be and I always about having that lump under the middle of the bass body if the case falls over flat on the side.

I actually have one of the older Mooradians and like for day to day use. I'm looking for a slight step up in protection for some light touring (Van) but avoiding going to a case.

The prices shown on the website are fairly high, but if you can locate a dealer (admittedly, not many), the prices are much more reasonable. I just picked up a Stage 3 gig bag for my acoustic guitar for $100.
Their stuff is fantastic! The Stage 3 and Stage 5 models really bridge the gap between gig bag and hardshell case, which I love. I've also owned Mono and iGig. I liked them both: the Mono was very light, stylish, and waterproof, but lacked pocket space. The iGig was very durable and had ample pocket space, but it was heavy.
Really, each of these three brands are very, very nice, and you'd do well with any of them. My 'complaints' are very minor. What I love about Access that the others lack is a combination of ample pocket space, rugged exterior, and a rigid frame with the size and weight of a more typical gig bag.

Cheers | Most of the hybrids would work fine. Believe it or not, after owning most of the high priced bags (Mono, iGig... didn't like that one at all... heavy and more like a bag than a hybrid, inCase, etc.), my favorite hybrid bag is the current version of the Protec Contego.
Very solid hybrid design, very lightweight, very good pocket space, nice neck protection and velcro tie down, etc., etc. All for a bit over $100.
My favorite bag considering protection, weight, size, and pocket space. Quality is A- for a C+ price!
Highly recommended. |

I'm very pleased with my Mono dual and consider it money well spent.
My reason for going with the mono over igig was weight, and mono over mooradian was styling. Plus I love that you access the individual basses from opposite sides of the bag using the Mono.

The iGig can hold a ton but it's heavier, so if I just need to bring a bass and a cable and strap, I take the Mono. What's nice about the iGig is that it sits lower on your body than most cases, so it doesn't bang into door frames and subway ceilings. |

I just received a new double bag Mooradian and within 2 hours it was back at Fedex being returned as useless crap. It's very light and flimsy. It lacks even basic things like extra padding at the bottom of the bag so your strap buttons aren't always hitting the floor when you set it down. With 2 jazz basses in it the large outside pocket is so tight and the opening so small I couldn't get a Markbass LMII into it, yet it easily fits in the smaller pocket on my Undercover. The backpack straps are too short and even fully extended it puts a lot of pressure on the neck of the bass when it's on my back. The feel of the flimsy material felt like some cheap Chinese knock off.
But the killer for me was how cheaply they made it a double bag, they simply include a thin flimsy pad that you slide in between the 2 basses. It's not sewn in and it moves around when you take a bass in or out and it allows the 2 necks to contact each other. If it rides up a bit the bridge from one bass will be grinding into the back of the other. Their single bags may be acceptable but the double bag should be removed from the market and redesigned properly.
It should cost around $60 and not the $255 I paid for it. IMO. |

Mono - Lighter then iGig, water proof, not a lot of storage
iGig - Heaviest, lots of storage, still bag like, sits lower on you
Protec Contego and Access - possible sleepers here, good weight, decent protection & price, possible issue with 35" scale.
Disclaimer: I'm just putting this together based on the comments so far.
Thanks for contributing.
