iGig vs Sadowsky gig bag

Sign in to disble this ad
I know this is the basses section, but basses are what go in gig bags, so...

I need a bag for my Deep 5. My old Protec is too shallow (the Deep 5 is...um...deep). The iGig has a little more depth (2.4" - close but still may be tight due to the saddle protection), but per Roger the Sadowsky is 3" deep so that should have plenty of room. Had the Mono M80 which is deep enough but I want more space to carry cables, charts, etc.

Anyone have a compare/contrast on these two?

Sadowsky has more room but is bulkier and heavier. The IGig is more compact but has sufficient room. You should check out the Warwick Rockbass Gig Bag as well.

I would just point out on a related note that my RB Continental is *super* heavy and has longer dimensions than my hard cases. I wish there was a good in-between, like a medium-shelled rectangular case with straps (that was the same dimensions as a hard case). It sounds like these two are about as big as the RB?

I found my Sadowsky gig bag to be the Sherman Tank of gig bags! Yea it is a bit bulkier and heavier than a standard gig bag, but my basses are worth it! I can never see buying anything else but a Sadowsky port-a-bag. They are just THAT good!

please try to remember that basses is for instrument-specific issues. gig bags fit most appropriately in misc.

The Portabags are a great light-weight alternative to a hard case - they offer much more protection than any other "gig bag" that I've ever seen. They are not, however, as comfortable to wear on one's shoulders. If I plan on simply carrying the case (with my hand) then I'll use the Portabag. If, on the other hand, I plan on walking a lot and want to carry the bass on my back I'll use my Mono case.
