I'm cutting an album but I'm not a guitar player!

I'm about to go into the studio to cut an album. I have a drummer, I'm a Bass player, I'm the writer and will be doing vocals, but I can't find a guitar player and instead of slowing me down, I'm gonna be doing the guitar parts myself, but I'm not a guitar player!

It's gonna be a punk album sort of a Nirvana meets The Sex Pistols kind of thing. Anyway, I just bought a Chinese Ibanez looking rip off with Humbuckers and I'm looking for a good distortion pedal, something versitile to get multiple distortion sounds for the guitar.

THE BASS WILL BE DRIVING THIS ALBUM locked tight with the drums while I'll be spewing whatever crap I wrote down in my notebook. The guitar will just be background noise.

My question is, can I get by with just muted power chords and single note riffs? The guitar is gonna play the background.
I don't know why I posted this, I'm just gonna have fun and just go with it!

Yes... Let the bass & drums be the main focus. Have at it with the vocals. Do your best guitar tracks even if their going to just be back ground texture like sounds. I think it can be very cool and somewhat unique to do it this way. Express yourself! Post some when finished.

If you need some overdubs, let me know. I've been playing bass and guitar since age 9. I have plenty of both and end up laying down a few tracks on tons of friend's albums all the time (punk, funk, rock, etc.) and no I don't want money, just fun for me.

REMEMBER
Don't forget to tune up before EVERY take or at least EVERY session and remember effect pedal settings, compression, eq, mic placement, etc. or you'll never get the same sound twice. Bass is a little more consistent than guitar.

Best o luck.
