I need a gigbag for my zoom pedalboard and I'm going to actually walk into a guitarcenter today to buy the one I need. I'm not going to order it online. Is this safe?

Do an online search, get the lowest price, print out proof, and make sure they price match.

I dunno.
Safe how?
Is it a bad neighborhood?
Do the employees have strange diseases?
Do people check in but they don't check out?

Make 2 copies of your proof in case someone there mistakes it for their lunch. You might need a helmet too.

Don't do it! The idiot sales person, who you called ahead of time to see if they had the product, didn't actually know what the product was and looked up the wrong one, so now they don't have it and you've wasted half an afternoon solely because you thought with such an easy product there would be no hassle and perhaps there would be this gem in the store you could try out and scratch off your "I need to play one of these" list and now your stuck in traffic on the way home (because this is NY and there's ALWAYS traffic), you ears are ringing from the "Sunshine of your Love" on the cranked Marshall stack the ENTIRE time you were in the store, your stressed out and gigbagless . . . just order it on-line and go for a walk in the park.

Gigbag for a pedalboard? Try a store that sells luggage.

Of course, but by that token, why bother asking then?

I only have one buying experience at my local GC and it was a good one.

Here's my tip. GC employees have a badge, usually hanging from their neck. Look for the guy who's badge says Expert. It's no guarantee as to the kind of service you'll get but, every little bit helps.

Good luck.

I did actually do that. And the guy said, "Wha...? No. We don't carry that." And I said, "I just checked online and they said you have it in stock at that store". And he said "Really?", and I said, "Yes." And he said, "I never heard of it, what is it called again?", and I said, "Let me give you the product number".... and I did... and they have it in stock... or so he says...

I'm on my way.

Well this happened to me once.
Called in looking for some solid shaft 250K pots and the guy says, "We have 'em".
They didn't.

If you have a high tolerance level for apathetic/ignorant store associates, incoherent noise, kids, wankers, and, misinformation you're good to go.

What!? They play actual songs at the one near you? I'm always greeted by loud noodling.
