On Saturday I'm flying to Cairns to stay for a week and then I'm going to spend a few days in Sydney before I return. Anything I should be sure to see?

Cool man! Australia has always been one of those places I really want to visit, right after Europe.

You could pop in on a few TBers.

Well, there's the Sydney Opera House, and the aquariums and zoos about (I've long forgotten the names, lived in Britain too long), are excellent.

ummmm do a google search for 'Cronulla race riots' before you visit there. Sydney is an OK place, too big for me, but Taronga zoo is a must visit, so is The Rocks and of course go for a sail on the harbour if you can. Centre Point tower is cool i guess, if you like tall (by our standards) buildings. But i reckon the 2 best things about Australia is the weather and the people. Oh i nearly forgot, while in Cairns you MUST go scuba/snorkelling on the great barrier reef, apparently it isn't going to be around for that much longer.

I lived in Cronulla for 10 years mate, never in that time has something so stupid happened in such a grand scale... there were always blues between surfies and "homies", but other than that, its a sweet place to live, once the people there get to know you, its allright. Dont judge 'Nulla for that one incident, it has a lot to offer.

Thanks guys, I'm definitely planning on the reef and spending time with locals! Can't wait!

vindy500, I'm planning on New Zealand next year. Is Xena still there? I'd like to meet her . . .

Aye, but cronulla always scores low on intollerance tests, i was abused 3 times by rednecks when i was there and i'm as okker as they come. Apparently i'm just 'as bad as them' by hanging around my bangladeshy mates when we went for a read trip to Sydney. It might be a nice place, but the people do suck muchly.
