| It was really cool. I do have to say it was the "strangest" concert I've ever been to in terms of the overall tonal quality. Seemed like something was going on with the PA and all the guy's tones were very muddy to me.
The playing was outstanding. I think I was most impressed with Jeff Berlin. He was humble, articulate, and a monster. I leaned over and told my buddy, who is a drummer, "I don't think he's played anything lower than the 12th fret yet!" It was a good while before he went down low.
He also sang surprisingly well on the song "Crossroads" at the all-star jam at the end.
My personal highlight was a tune that Stu Hamm did called "Nostalgia". It was very ethereal and it put me (and the rest of the audience) in an aural trance. It was almost other-worldly. He also did a really cool combination of The Beatles and Beethoven....very cool.
Billy Sheehan rocked out on Shy Boy. Nice.
After it was over, all three greats hung around in the lobby signing autographs, talking to the crowd and taking pictures. Very down-to-earth and professional.
The backing band was fantastic. Jude Gold, the guitarist, and John Mader, the drummer, were just phenomenal!
If they come back around, definitely try to see it. Just hope that the room acoustics don't create muddy water.
I have some pics, but I'm having difficulty with my camera right now and can't get them on the computer. I'll try again later.
