I'm going to see Yngwie Malmsteen in concert (and orange sky opening!)

what an odd combination. I have no idea why orange sky was picked for the openers of this tour (although I love em.)

I'm ready for a night of angry, cheesy, swedish shred glory!

I hear Yngwie has overinduldged in cheeseburgers the past few years. Let us know if he wears spandex. Maybe he'll look like camel toe Elvis!

I had a friend who went to see him, and the first thing he said when I asked him about it was "You have to see him...he's sooo freakin' fat."

Reminds me of when I went to see Heart in the mid 80s. Ann Wilson walked out, and there was an audible gasp from the audience. Her voice was still incredible, but she had to be 280 if not more.

"I know him and he does..."

Never thought I'd use a line from a Pavement song as a punchline. Though the original was refering to Geddy's voice.

Well he got really fat, but recently he's lost some weight (see new pictures) and is back in relative shape.

Anarexic Yngwie? Maybe? :-D

Either way he still shreds. haha. I need to find out who's touring with him on bass (he's a bass nazi [yngwie] and that's why most bassists hate him. his shows area bout him him him, I wonder if his bassist has ever had a solo? hell no prob)

Yngwie is yngwie.

There's no definable segment of instrumentation you can pen Yngwie into. That's not a bad thing, but it's not a good thing either.

It's just a thing.

Much like yngwie.

That name still makes me picture a pregnant yak, though.

Don't make any fat jokes about him in person, though. He might "unleash the fury" all over your face.

Ok, since I discovered I can't pronounce Moog correctly, lets try an easier name.

How is Yngwie pronounced?

I've always thought Ying-wee....but that never felt right

I think it should be Ing-Wee (edit: That is just how I read it, maybe it is ing-vay)

He has anglified his name from Yngve Malmsten. The Y sound in Swedish does not exist in English. It is similar to the German Ü.

I heard Yngwie play once and it was insanely loud so do not forget earplugs.

I've always pronounced the -W- in a german way, something between a V and a W.

This is more interesting than his music, that's for sure
