So last semester I started up a little three peice jazz group (trumpet, sax and bass). It was lots of fun and we are gonna do it again when things start back up in a week or so. However about two weeks ago a guitar acquaintence of mine called me and told me that he has a drummer and some keys lined up, so now I have another group to play with. Then this week a singer song writer friend of mine called me and told me that he and some girl are gettin something going and want me to play with them. So I'm going to be playing with three groups this semester, while doing school work and a part time job. I'm going to be so busy! Does anyone else have this kind of thing going? Is it possible? Do you have any free time beyond music, school, job and etc?

it's possible, but trust me, if you don't stay on top of everything, your going to feel overwelmed and stressed,

what level of schooling are you in?

That'll surely do it. Just make sure you eat healthy (it helps a lot mroe than you think) and try to make it to the gym every day. Keep your spirits up and stay away from the ladies (suck up time )

How often do these bands plan to play? How many of them might fall apart before doing anything? They might not take up very much of your time...

A few months ago I was playing in four bands. One fell apart because the bandleader's business kept him too busy. The second one I quit because it was too much work for too little reward (and they're now looking for a bassist again, apparently). The third one just fell apart before it could settle on a stable lineup. The fourth has managed to record an album, though.

Today the fourth band is still going and profitable. I'm also playing in a jazz band that's almost ready to gig and will do some recording work for a metal band that needs bass fiddle. Possibly even two metal bands if a second band can get things together. I also got auditions with two wedding/banquet bands this evening and Monday.

This is on top of a full-time job and thorough house renovations. But it means I'm often only home to eat and sleep so I can't, for example, have a dog, a busy social life, brew beer or raise pigeons.
