Unhappy I'm now an unemployed musician...

After being with my most recent band (UUU) for the past 2+ years, my last show with them was this past Saturday.

I've been planning on moving away (Greensboro, NC or Denver, CO) upon finishing my Masters. I graduated about a month ago, and am very actively looking for job in either of those spots. Because I don't want to be tied down here if I am offered something, I gave the band my notice about three months ago. My last show was at Lafayette College in Easton, PA on Saturday, June 7th.

I've played consistently with a band (or bands) for the past 9 years... So it feels very bizarre not only to not be in a band, but not even be able to look for one until I'm settled somewhere.

Weird.

Anyway, here is our most recent promo poster.... Ahhh the memories!

It is weird. My last band only lasted 2 years, barely gigged (once a month, average) and in reality, we didn't have our **** together at all. But when it all stopped, there was about a year before I found my new band. It's a small area as far as music scenes go, but that was a really weird time. But I will say, it's a good time to work on yourself as a bassist rather than a band member. Learn something new, in my off time I strengthened my modal theory a bit, studied different bassists than I would in my band, etc.

Yeah, Matt. That's what I was thinking. The past three bands I've been in have been very diverse. One was a rock band, the other was a jam band, and the most recent was a disco/funk/Motown conglomeration! So I think having lots of me time to work on my own voice will be good again.

How's everything down you're way. Haven't been out there since my old bands Crush and Simon Sez. We've been to 4D's, City Limits, Shooters, and another one I'm forgetting...

Thanks, Kevin. I don't see it as a loss though. More like potential for growth.
