I'm out to kill my bass tonight

It all started when my bird flew over to me out of the blue, landed on my Foundation 4 and slid down to the bridge O_O...after inspection everything is ok. . . Then as I was playing, this annoying rattle Ive had in it since I got a couple of weeks back finally got on my last nerve. I figured it was the trussrod as it needs adjusting (lot of relief in the neck right now) but upon a closer look I realized it was the clover, elephant footprint handle thingy on the G string machine head....the groove it sets in had been bent open slightly. Ok no problem, take some pliers and squeeze them back together, right? Wrong... I'm trying to squeeze it back together and I hear this slight snap from somewheres....I look, everything looks ok, but the thing is still bent and not to mention the snap scared the crap out of me. So I grab two bandaids and fixed the rattle by taping the handle down in the setting... I go to tunemybass and retune it...then spill coffee on it.....it didn't hit any electronics...I clean that up...finally get settled to play it and smack the laptop with it as I put it in my lap....*sigh* If my Foundation survives the night, it will be a miracle I think.

Anyone else ever have times like that?

Uhm...ok...normally things like this don't happen to my instrument...it was just a freak set of stuff. Before it was over all I could do was laugh about it...just wondered if anyone else had ever had a few clumsy incidences with their axe...sorry.

I always hit the edge of a crash cymbal with my bass.

I have a tendency to hit the headstock into stuff with my other bass, but generally I don't have destructive things like that happen all in a row like that. Nothing is the worse for wear on the Peavey and it survived the night LOL I know I can't be the only clutz out there though

Your bird or did you give your bass the bird? That whole sentence has me confused. How does a bird slide to the bridge?

He landed somewhere else on the bass and his little claws couldn't grab on... so he slid.

Made sense to me.

LOL but yea, he landed about where the first pickup was and slid down to the bridge. I had the bass leaned against the chair and the angle it was at just made it a lost cause when he thought he could land on it. I was surprised there was no scratches or damage -- at least no scratches that I saw at any rate. I am toying with the idea of getting it refinished in another color .. perhaps Rudy (my bird who isn't exactly tiny either) was trying to tell me something. I am also considering swapping out the chrome machine heads for black. Maybe the bass is trying to tell me something LOL (regarding the bent one)
