The importance of good gear (I don't care what they say)

First of all LIFE IS SHORT enjoy every day as if it were the last!

Some people think that a expensive instrument is a fraud and unnecessary, coments like "I can make the same music with my (Insert cheap bass) as your Sadowsky/Smith/Fodera" are very common.. But (This is subjective and IMHO) the thing is..

Some times we forget that this stuff makes us HAPPY, some people say that what makes them happy is the music as a whole at the end, but i think that (In my case) a beautiful bass, exotic top woods, lots of laminates, expensive features, renowned brands etc isn't a bad thing, and we are NOT loosing time and money worrying with these things. T

The simple fact of knowing that you have that bass in your hands while a gig or another situation, and others praise you and give you compliments for such a beautiful instrument, is what makes you happy, and remember that maybe that cost you money but is the price for having that bass-happyness

And i say Life is short because some times people are self-conscious of spending the money, but they will always have that urge to have done that purchase.. i know people who work hard every day and save save save save money without thinking of themselves.

I have received much criticism because I ordered a Custom Bass that cost me 2800 $ and i'm happy with that "Piece of timber" as some one told me once..

Oh and last thing.. it's undeniable that most of these expensive basses are well crafted (i'm not sayin better than others), sounds brutal, look stunning, nice fret job, nice pickups, etc etc...

Once again, this is Subjective and IMO. Don't hesitate to buy that instrument you has always desired because that makes us happy between so many concerns we have, We could die tomorrow (God cares for us all)

I'm pretty happy, I found the "instrument i always desired" here for $900. And since it's pretty cheap, I don't really care about the ding, scratches and such.

I totally understand your point, but I also understand people who are happy with a $100 bass : I'm kinda on the cheap side when it comes to amps.
