I have between 6,000 and 7,000 vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes plus all the digital library I have which is several thousand more individual songs.

It would take me all day to get them together to take photos.

I guess what I'm confused about it that just because it's on a computer doesn't mean that it was free.

@bassgododmw: Like I said, not targeting you. Digitally purchasing stuff is good, I do that for software, like Windows 8 (pretty cool interface, imo, been using computers since 87, so it was easy to acclimatise to something new. Got my Fireface, recording peripherals and Cubase to work flawlessly on it). Have a Steam account too.

But at the same time, you do recognise that more people pirate than they buy music, I am sure.

I'm all for imposing restrictions on internet usage, like those SOPA, PIPA proposals. I do realise that people will cry foul, burn my effigy, whatever.

Unfortunately, the internet has become this huge freaking cesspool. Just go on youtube and look at all the troll comments on music videos. Look at all the garbage and misinformation on websites. Look at how people will offer a gazillion albums in mp3 formats within one convenient 10 GB torrent. Strange ****ing pornography that does not look legal because there's something ****ing weird going on and the video is chopped to suit the poster's identity.

My point is not, "We are great guys, we are so rich we can afford CDs". [After a Communist government came to power in my home state of Kerala, my family lost everything]

My point isn't also that if you don't report people with pirated music collections, sharing with other people rampantly and taking food out of people's mouths to the federal authorities, I will. Win friends and influence people? I'd rather keep my powder dry and trust in God. Because I know what's right, irrespective of what the masses (or the herd) think.

It says clearly on the back of every CD and tape I've owned: not for unauthorised reproduction. Definitely illegal to download and share music.

None of these things are the points of this thread do. It's sort of a way to brag (not quite), just in the way people post their great basses!

I wish people would see my dinky collection and think, I can top that! If some guy sees these CD collections and thinks, I should buy one or two, I would consider that a great victory in keeping music alive and well.

[Brags] Hell, I could have bought a Fodera if I hadn't spent it on my collection! Would I in hindsight? Hell no!
