Indianapolis scene

Hey folks,

I'm being recruited by a company in Indy, and may move if it works out. I know the music scene must be very different from Nashville ... just wondering if anyone has any input on playing opportunities and the local music scene?

Thanks for any insight!

Cheers,
Liam

I have a cousin, Lani Williams, who is in a band in Indianapolis called "Mars or the Moon". Here is a link to their spacebook page:

That's the best I can do...

I'd say it's just your average scene.

For big time famous bands though, they always stop through. Nothing you aren't used to in Nashville though.

The thing about Indy, though, is that you're 2 hours from Dayton, Cincy, 3 from Columbus, 2 from Ft. Wayne, 3 from Chicago, etc. So you're not just in the Indy scene but in the entire 3 state area scene. I'm in Columbus and that's pretty much how it is here, or so I've experienced. I'm meeting new people all the time from all over Ohio and Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, etc. It's just cool like that.

I don't know anything about Indianapolis' scene per se, but it may actually be good. Sometimes the big music cities like NYC, LA, Nashville don't have enough clubs etc to give work to all the bands that are trying to make it there; the smaller cities (or less beaten-track, Indy's relatively big) sometimes have a better playing-space-to-bands ratio. But I don't know, you'll have to do some research.
