Inexpensive High-Quality Case

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys!

My wife wants to buy me (or I want her to buy me) a bass case for Christmas. I was hoping to find an inexpensive, non-gig bag, but wasn't sure what options were out there.

I used to have an SKB for my old Epiphone Les Paul that I loved, but the price is a little higher than I had hoped.

Any recommendations for ~$50?

Thanks!
Kyle

At that price range, I'm not sure you'll find much. There's a generic musician's gear case for 50 at gc

If you want to go a little bit more, I think Epi actually makes a case for the Les Paul bass for around 80 I think. I'd check out GC or MF and see what you can find really.

I have a couple of these:

So far they haven't failed on me. Haven't found anything better for 50 bucks.

These are neat too if you want something a bit more stylish (not sure what bass you want this for, but if its P or J style this works):

My apologies. I mislead you when I mentioned my old Epi Les Paul (my old guitar, non-bass).

This case will be for a MIM Fender P-Bass.

I have a Roadrunner case that I picked up at my local GC for ~65 for my Squier Jazz that's pretty decent. I wouldn't say high-quality, but it's a pretty solid case.

Sweetwater has some great case deals. I recommend that Gator GL-bass guitar case. Perfect cross between a gig bag and a hard case. I use them exclusively and they hold up to nearly anything but putting in a plane cargo hold (lost a cheap bass this way. One did fine, the other got a sharp edge through her and put a hole in the neck). I would recommend these cases for everything. In your price range and super quality. As long as you aren't touring the world you will never find a better case in that range.

That GL-Bass case is pretty slick. I'm definitely not anti-soft case by any means. I just want a case that's slightly better than a gig bag to get me to/from my church on Fridays and Sundays.

I think you would find the Gator case perfect for you then. It has tons of cargo room inside, and has a pocket on the outside that fits two large pedals and cables.

The cases from Rondo Music are good too. They are basic hard cases made with pressboard or very thin plywood as opposed to the more expensive cases made with good plywood or composites. They will also suffice for you.

But I'm gonna still recommend the Gator case. I love 'em because they are light, very protective, fit every bass I own with the exception of my Peavey G-Bass (Horn with button is just the length of the button too long) and also have a really cool look.

Either way, enjoy. Hope you (er, I mean your wife) get you the case you asked Santa for. ;-)

The best cases can be found at South-Pak hands down! I have looked for cases for years and finally found a few I am happy with! Check them out!
