inexpensive mp3 players

I got a little 1MB MP3 player over the holidays and love it, never thought I'd be a guy with a portable music player since CD's are king to me.

Sometimes it sounds like it's skipping, like a skipping CD in the old days of sensitive car stereos. What would cause this in a digital file?

Also, is there anthing I can do while transferring files to allow for uninterrupted sound from track to track. You know how some albums have a prelude as a seperate track? A lot of that effect is lost with the break between tracks!

When you transferred your CDs to your computer, did any of them have scratches? That would cause it without a doubt.

Also, many mp3 players have gapless playback now (iPod just recently added this after being begged constantly), so the preludes and continuously playing albums aren't ruined.
