Interesting drum videos

This guy knows how to keep it rocking through the old Rush classic, "Limelight". The tune contains lots of time signature changes and one slightly weird polyrhythmic section, but he doesn't miss a beat. Interesting to watch a drummer from an overhead camera angle, too.

And keep an eye on his right foot in this old Led Zeppelin tune:

Oh well. I thought they were interesting, anyway.

It seems most bassists on here don't like learning about the fine art of the drummer. Shame really.

Oh well, back to the gear threads.

You kidding me? I love watching awesome drummers. Their sense of time is just astounding, and how they can carry on multiple rhythms at the same time. They always have my respect.

That guy does some Mike Portnoy covers that are just amazing.

I've been slowly learning to appreciate drum solos more and more. Last night I watched Bonzo (john bonham) play his whole drum solo from the concert "the song remains the same" sorry forgot what song contains his solo....

Don't tell anyone but I was a drummer before I was a bassist... One neat carry-over is the compliments I get on my sense of time.

Yeah, drums are physically a bit of a challenge. Every limb is doing something different but in sync. There's also the actual physical resistance of hitting things with a fair amount of force that don't give very much. And, of course, you've got that China cymbal right in your ear all night. That's why I play on the *left* side of the drummer now.

I liked playing drums and still occasionally get behind the kit for fun but it's something you need to keep up with. But it's certainly a great background to have as a bassist and can really help make that bass/drum foundation very solid.

That Tim Alexander grooves along just great - very cool.

Just for sheer solo chops, though, nobody's ever going to beat this guy.
