I've never been into electronica/trance/house, but my buddy spun records in San Francisco for many years and absolutely loves it, so I figured I'd give it a try as well. I've heard his recommendations (20+ years worth of music), but I want to hear yours. If you're into it, what do you like? Favorite artists/DJ's?
I have a music library of close to 9,000 songs ranging from Mozart to Atmosphere, to Stevie Wonder, and I would consider myself to have good taste in music (As a rule of thumb, if it goes on the radio, I won't listen to it, but I won't write it off just because it's on the radio). So I think I'm fairly open minded. What you got? |

For at home listening (I'm gonna give you a wide variety so you can decided what styles you like) check out Bassnectar, Spor (awesome D&B), Shpongle, Ozric Tentacles (fathers of livetronica), DJ Shadow, Squarepusher (Port Rhombus is an awesome song), Kilowatts, Noisia (D&B), Two Lone Swordsmen (I recommend the album 'Stay Down'), and Pretty Lights (free albums on his website!).
Of course you may find you like electronic music player by live artists better, so check out Sound Tribe Sector 9, The Disco Biscuits, Telepath, Lotus, Pnuma Trio, The New Deal, and Jojo Mayer and Nerve (bass player is on these forums).
Lemme know what you think!

Check out older Lake Trout for a little live D'n'B. They turned a little more psych/indie on later albums (which are equally as good IMO).
Another TBer posted this video on Facebook. It's about the "Amen Break" which is pretty much the drum basis for D'n'B. Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SaFTm2bcac |
