Introducing my 9 string acoustic piccolo bass:

Here's my latest Ebay acqusition:

This poor thing has been really abused. The extremely large aftermarket pickguard was hiding some pretty severe gouges and cracks - fortunately the top is still sound, and none of the cracks go completely through the soundboard. The bridge must have been routed out with a chainsaw when they installed a pickup, and the saddle is just a slab of unshaped bone. Gah!

That said, this might end up being a really cool guitar. It sounds good (despite the extremely light strings), the neck is nice and chunky, and the string spacing is wide enough for fingerpicking. It's not going to win any beauty contests anytime soon, but it's certainly functional. Not bad for my first acoustic guitar, huh?

Awesome, I've really been looking into those half doubled guitars... like the new Martin 7 string with a doubled G string. That's just cool.
