LOVED these guys. They could take a simple groove and just work it to death with feel and "space". Nobody EVER overplayed. And Michael Hutchence was pure sex as a front man.

I remember seeing a live video of them and the bassist's tone was the best I have ever heard, before or since.

The golden era of INXS died with Hutchence and the whole "reality show" audition for his replacement felt a little sleazy and cheezy... but I give them credit for carrying on as long as they did afterwards.

That's too bad but as long as everyone is happy it's time to pursue other interests I wish them all good luck.

Saw them live in 1987 and they killed.

Suicide is never the answer.

Ditto. Amen. This.

I liked INXS in the 80's. Some great catchy songs with good grooves. But yeah ... to me, they came and went.

That Rock Star TV show =

+1 Thought they called it quits over a decade ago. But seem to recall them going back out on the road
earlier this year or late last year for another stab at it.

I actually remember when they did that reality show to audition for a new singer. They manifestly did NOT pick the most talented and charismatic person in the competition, as far as I'm concerned. It just didn't seem like they were committed to revitalizing as a creative operation. I didn't think they'd last as long as they did after that.

The standing joke in Oz when they started was "what is your favourite lead solo" as even with 3 guitarists, nothing was happening. Huchence was considered a hybrid Jagger/Morrison clone.
But they took off overseas whicj was the goal for all of us.

Never cared for them and liked them even less when they hired J.D. Fortune as their singer in the first season of Rockstar.
