I remember seeing a live video of them and the bassist's tone was the best I have ever heard, before or since.
The golden era of INXS died with Hutchence and the whole "reality show" audition for his replacement felt a little sleazy and cheezy... but I give them credit for carrying on as long as they did afterwards.

I liked INXS in the 80's. Some great catchy songs with good grooves. But yeah ... to me, they came and went.
That Rock Star TV show =

They manifestly did NOT pick the most talented and charismatic person in the competition, as far as I'm concerned. It just didn't seem like they were committed to revitalizing as a creative operation. I didn't think they'd last as long as they did after that.

| | | | The standing joke in Oz when they started was "what is your favourite lead solo" as even with 3 guitarists, nothing was happening. Huchence was considered a hybrid Jagger/Morrison clone.
But they took off overseas whicj was the goal for all of us. |
