Forgive my anti-technology/old fart-ness, but I have to believe there are several devices that do what I want here- connect a bass & ipod w/a headphone out, specifically for learning cover tunes from itunes/youtube/whatever- I spotted the DVforge Jampod in an old(2005)Bassplayer mag- what's new in this direction?
Sound quality will be second to *cheap*

It is around $49. The sound is pretty good. However it has little tone shaping ability and can hiss sometimes. |

Also *hissies*
Thank you!

It's nice to genuinely contribute now & again.

It has a 1/4 inch microphone input and input volume on front to plug my bass into. I also run an 1/8th inch headphone jack out of the computer to RCA phonograph plugs plugged into the amp.
I can run my bookshelf size speakers or headphones when needed for silence. Try to find one on e-bay. they can't be worth much monetarilly but is an invaluable tool for practicing and learning covers at home. Also it really adds to the sound quality of anything you listen to on you tube or I-tunes

I likely do have a tape deck collecting dust that would do what you're describing, though- I'll check that out.

I have the IK multimedia deal for iPhone, honestly it's not worth $40. I could have soldered up the same thing for about $8. It's just 2 jacks and a 3.5mm trs plug. The only real benefit is the convenience, and the sound quality isn't that great. Plus you still have to pay extra to get the bass amp model. Not my wisest purchase. |

Again, sound quality isn't huge for me, but I wanna be able to pick out bass parts- this will be a *learning tunes for the cover band* tool.
