Not sure if this is the correct forum, but anyway...
My band has, for the last few years, had an excellent rehearsal space. We play in an enormous antiques warehouse, surrounded by other warehouses, that we have a little corner of.
Recently, though, a problem has started that greatly detracts from the rehearsal atmosphere. Some feral cats have taken up residence in the warehouse. I never before realized how bad cat crap smells. We have no idea how to get rid of them. Anyone dealt with this sort of thing before?

Alternatively, I got no doubts a rifle wouls suit your needs...

Alternatively, I got no doubts a rifle wouls suit your needs... | a rifle is bad taste. poisonous cat food would be best, that way they take it back to the queen cat and it kills off the whole ant hill.

The problem with poisoned food is that, well, not only would I somewhat prefer a solution *if feasible* that doesn't involve killing them, but then we'd have to search a colossal warehouse for dead cats which would be rotting and stinking up the place even worse.

but on a serious note, can you not just lock them out?

no doubt those cats will be flea ridden soon if not already. |

The door is always closed, whether we're there or not, and when we're not there it's locked. The warehouse complex that this warehouse is part of is surrounded by a high fence topped with razor wire.
There must be be a hole in the wall somewhere, but how to find it I'm not sure. The building is enormous, maybe almost as long as a football field and about half to two thirds as wide. And it's packed pretty full of stuff, too.

no doubt those cats will be flea ridden soon if not already. | I actually hadn't thought about this, but you're right, that's yet another issue this problem raises. I'm sure that these cats probably have tons of fleas.

just dont kill them dude, please. | I'm highly allergic to cats. They need to be gone. I would prefer some method that would just discourage them from using the warehouse as their house and crapper, but if there's no way to get rid of them without killing them... they're probably gonna die, gotta be honest. Plus there's the flea issue that someone pointed out, as well. I don't want to kill them, hence why I've posted the thread looking for more innovative solutions.

Besides, killing animals on property that is NOT yours is a crime (though depending on the circumstances, killing animals on your property may be a crime, as well). The police would be more than happy to accompany downtown if someone is running around a warehouse with a rifle.
What about talking with the owners of the building? Letting them know they have a pest problem. Then let THEM deal with it.

cats + rocks + sack + river
you know... you´re "probably gonnna die" too.
anyway... sorry about that.
what about scaring them way? i think there is some kind of high pitched-noise-maker that you wont hear and would keep cats/rats/pigeons away... what about it? |

But I want to consider other options first.
I like the high pitched noisemaker idea. Do you think there's a kind that requires little power that would be effective?
