Get a strap that slips on your shoulder. Something with a slicker material. This is typical for straps that don't slip due to suede or rough leather on the inside.

I thought about this foa a while but the strap is dear to me cause someone close gave it to me... I was thinking that duct tape might do the trick but if anybody has solutions...

Duct tape might leave a residue on the back of the strap especially if you get hot and sweaty. It does sound like you need to make the inside smoother somehow. You could try taking some med grade sandpaper and smoothing it out a bit if it's rough. I did that on a strap years ago and it helped. Just took the rough edges off.

You don't want to do that. Trust me.

that's a nice strap, i'd leave it alone. i favor straps with suede bottoms (that grip the shoulder/shirt) like that with my basses - i like the fact that they help the bass to stay put when i'm playing.

i just use raw belt leather that i dye black, cut to size and poke holes in. straps get better (more supple) as they age, and they're cheap. and my basses stay put. .
