It's official: Rush is in

http://www.cp24.com/mobile/rush-to-b...fame-1.1075166

Now I guess the only question left is whether they choose to show up or not! They have every right to snub, but I think they're just way too classy for that kind of thing.

Weird... is that a little bit of Canadian pride welling up in my heart?

Well it's about damn time.

I'm glad they don't care, but it's also nice to see them in.

Next order of business: Yes.

I agree, I think even Neil will be there.

They've buried the hatchet with the rock press, and they are enjoying the fruits and revenge of the proverbial "life well-lived."

In Columbus, Ohio, as a high school freshman in 1974, my friends and I used to tune into WMMS Cleveland and were among the first this side of the border to hear these amazing strains from The Great White North. I was literally the first kid in my neighborhood to buy the first Rush self-titled release, which, a couple of years later I was lucky enough to have signed by Neil, Alex, and Geddy.

This is truly a momentous occasion. I'll actually be tuning in for the ceremony this time around.

This is one of those rare occasions when I can say "It couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of guys" and, rather than being completely sarcastic, I actually mean it sincerely.

Congrats to some of the most UN-rock star rock stars ever!

Big congrats to Rush, well deserved.

Who do you think inducts them?

It would be fitting to give that honor to Donna Halper.

My only hope is for a particularly well worded quote that sounds appreciative yet tells everyone they couldn't care less.

They should have been one of the first bands in...The RNRHOF is a joke. I stand with Eddie Trunk.

Did The Meters get in too?
I'm not 100% up to snuff on how this works but I remember last time I saw an induction ceremony, a lot of bands / people got in.

Leave that to Neil.

I'd love to see Eddie Trunk induct them. Or maybe Jann Wenner, just to see him eat crow!

It won't be Trunk or Halper. It's usually another rock star, generally someone from the younger generation that was influenced by the inductee. My money's on Dave Grohl or Les Claypool, both pretty big names who have made their love of Rush well known.

WHAT?! Are they to re-start letting actual rock & roll bands into the Rock & Roll HOF?

I think fellow Canadian rocker and their good friend Kim Mitchell would be a great choice to present their induction speech.

By the way, I happen to have very odd Rush item. I own a vinyl copy of Fly By Night that actually has the same songs pressed on both sides even though the labels have the Side A and Side B song lists.

My money would be on Claypool as well.
