It's Only (Geezer) Rock ans Roll but we like it

20,000 packed the O2 stadium in London for The Rolling Stones concert celebrating their 50 years of great rock & roll. Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor made appearances and played a couple songs with their old bandmates.

I would have loved to have been at that show.
From the videos I have seen Mick's voice is still holding up and the band sounded great (unlike Rodger Daltrey who's voice is shot)

To me they have always been the greatest rock & roll band and they always will.
Growing up in the 60's my sister and her friends loved the Beatles and Herman's Hermits and other pop bands. Myself and my friends were into The Stones and The Who.

Does anyone know what bass DJ is playing?

I liked the Stones, but they were never on my top 10 of favorites. I'm still an Beatles/Alice Cooper/Rush/Pink Floyd/Judas Priest kinda guy lol

As big as they were and still am, can you imagine if the Beatles weren't "The Beatles"? They would have owned the world instead of the fabs...

You must not have seen any live Who/Daltrey videos from the past two years, cause Daltrey's voice is great. There was a period a couple years ago where it was shot, but he definitely got over it.

That's what I was going to say. The last one I saw was from earlier this year, and he sounded fantastic. I like the Stones (that Shine A Light movie was brilliant), but the Who were the best live rock band ever for my money.

He had some surgery done by the same DR that worked on Adele. There was a story about that DR on i think 60 minutes last week....maybe 2 weeks ago.

Did you see their Superbowl show?

I felt embarrassed for them. If a cover band did the songs that bad the bar would clear out.
Here is a clip from their 2012 tour. His voice is nothing like it was.
I am a huge Who fan and always have been but it is time for them to park it. It's like Paul and Ringo getting together and have a couple guys fill in and call themselves the Beatles.

When the British Invasion hit, I was more into bands like The Kinks, The Yardbirds, The Dave Clark Five, The Who, The Animals, and The Beatles than The Rolling Stones.

I thought that Superbowl show was good. Not exactly The Who of old, granted, but hardly embarrassing.

Likely a new Kay K162 reissue bass. Kay has reissued a bunch of vintage designs within the last few years.

(And Happy 50th Birthday, fellas'!)

+1 "To me they have always been the greatest rock & roll band and they always will..."

I'll take the Stones over the Beatles any day. I realize such a statement is heresy and I'm in the vast minority.

Weird. I clicked on your first link and when the site came up a popup came up on the bottom that said "by continuing to use this site you agree to the use of cookies..."

***. Nice they are telling you I guess but I've never seen this warning before. I just assumed they did it anyway.

The Stones will always be number one in my book.

50 years, what a legacy!
