Since I gave the drummer a ride, no drinks or fridge for me so I only took my G.K. MB150 + MBX cab. Hooked up to the guitarplayer's Samson powerconditioner as always, when he was already getting his settings right I turned it on but was freaking out about a lightdimmer type buzz coming from the back of the amp... Turned the volume up, played a couple of notes & the lights started flickering so switched it off simultaniously with the guitarplayer that saw his digital patches go crazy.
Checked the powerconditioner; 90 volts instead if the usual 220 volts...
Low & behold; the electrical sockets on stage-right were all connected to the lightfader!
So, got our power from stage-left & ran the 220 volts all through the night.
Next time, I'll trust my ears when hearing that buzz again & disconnect!
Did some searches on TB but couldn't find anything about underpowering an amp (not cabs, plenty there) but it seemed no damage was done... And the gig wasn't a disaster in the end. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
