Itunes help - organizing by artist/album/genre

Sign in to disble this ad
The program I've been using to rip CDs doesn't make mp3s with information about the artist or album or anything, so when I use Itunes to import my music it just puts it on the ipod as a huge list of songs with no information about any of them. How do I organize the artist and album and genres manually so that itunes recognizes it and puts it on the ipod accordingly?

I don't know if I gave enough information. I just got an ipod and just downloaded itunes (I've had itunes in the past and got rid of it cause I hated it). Now taking a CD and importing it to the library and putting it on the ipod is fine, no problem there. The problem is I already have this big collection of mp3s, but they don't have all the info associated with them, so itunes doesn't organize them. I'd be all set if I could use the ipod as a drag and drop external drive, but I don't think you can do that can you?

You could do lots of things.

If you still have the cd's that you got the mp3's from I suggest just deleting the old mp3 files and re-uploading them through iTunes. Kind of a pain in the butt.

You can make your iPod a drag and drop external drive. Here's the link to the how-to.

You could just add the information manually to the music. More of a pain in the butt that re-uploading the music probably. I guess if you just do the albums and not the genre and all that it wouldn't be that bad.

You could just deal with it.

You could try this app if you want to change them manually.

Have fun.

i just did it manually. shouldn't be hard, especially if you included artist/album name in the file name.

if you did this, it'll be easy! just search for a certain artist/album and they will all show up together. highlight all the ones in the same album, and rename accordingly!

thats what i did.
