Question iTunes vs. CD's

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've just been wondering lately, what do people prefer more? iTunes or CDs? I've been wondering if I should start purchasing through iTunes, but I like to buy the actual disc with the artwork and lyrics sheet. I honestly think I will continue to pay a little more for a little more than just the music, but what does every one else on the forum like to do?

...And I know a lot of people download these days too. I used to, but I personally like to have a real copy of the music and plus I don't mind supporting the artist. I do stream to hear music I havn't checked out before, but if I like it I will go out and purchase it.

I also prefer to own the "package" as opposed to just a file of the song. Also, I DJ and I'm pretty sure I can hear a difference in quality between condensed and un-condensed files on a large sound system. I also like the idea of record stores where one can actually walk around and browse. Sadly, it seems as if record shops are on their way out...

Normally I buy CDs and then dump them into iTunes and then on to my iPod, but I have also bought singles from the iTunes store. I agree that I'd rather own a hard copy most of the time, if for no other reason than as an archival backup, and I already had a sizable CD collection when I got my first iPod. With my current 80gb Classic, I've got almost my entire CD collection on it, along with concert videos and movies, and still have over half the disc space free.

itunes is easier and sorts it and makes ipod syncing a breeze.

i am 15 now and would LOVE to start collecting a large number of CD's just to show that i do love music, appreciate and support the music business.

though being my age and having no job makes it difficult.

itunes makes it possible to buy the single, IIRC, and thats all anyone wants anymore. they dont have to spend 12-15 dollars to cut to the chase.

real music will go underground and sell albums. overbreed, processed, unoriginal pop music will live and die by their singles.

have you HEARD the lady gaga album? they poured everything they had into 2 singles and threw the rest together. yet... shes famous right now.

i buy indie music. i borrow/steal mainstream music. i dont bother with itunes.
