Jack Casady Signature Cases

Sign in to disble this ad
So I traded some equipment for a J.C. signature bass... it had no case, so I ordered one from Musicians Friend.

The case came in today, and I just tried to put it in the case...

I was thinking that the guitar would "fit like a glove" so to speak, being the case was designed specifically for the bass. As it turns out, I had a very difficult time trying to get the bass to fit, and once in, it does not fit well at all. The neck portion of the case seems skewed to the left about 2 inches, so that the tuners are touching the left side, and about 2 inches from the right. Also, the bottom horn portion (which i think may be the real issue) seems cut incorrectly, and forces the body/neck at a weird angle.

Anyone else have his problem, and should I send it back? I really kinda need the bass to have a case, as I have several shows coming up (it will be my backup bass), and it doesn't fit in a standard case.

That doesn't sound right at all. I wouldn't want my bass to be getting torqued the whole time it's in the case. Seems like that could lead to neck twisting or getting out of alignment or something else bad. Did they send you the right item? Maybe you could contact Epiphone for advice?

I have a Jack Casady and it fits into the hardshell that was made for it like a glove. I think the case you have is either very badly made (unlikely) or simply the wrong case (probably). Return it. The case should fit very snuggly around the body and the neck and tuners should be centered correctly. The only odd thing about the case will be that it's maybe 2 or 3 inches longer than it needs to be. A bit more room than necessary beyond the headstock. But again I repeat... the case you have doesn't sound correct.
