Jaco on The Simpsons?!?!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, so I was watching the latest Hulu Simpsons episode 'How Munched Is That Birdie In The Window' tonight, when I heard... Jaco! It starts around 4:45 into the episode. I *know* this is a Jaco/Weather Report tune, but I'll be darned if I can remember which one it is. That iPhone app for recognizing tunes can't pick it out, can any of you guys help me out?

It isn't "Birdland" is it?

Maybe "A Remark You Made"?

"Havona"?

"Teen Town"?

"Portrait of Tracy"?

"Come On Come Over"?

"Donna Lee"?

The list is pretty long....

Heard that today too. It's crazy to think that the majority of people watching the simpsons would not get that joke. I wonder how many I've missed?

Ahhh, it IS Birdland! I went through three albums 30 seconds at a time, and evidently didn't listen to Birdland long enough to pick up the 'theme' past the harmonics bit. Thank you SO MUCH, it was driving me CRAZY! :-D

Or someone who dug jazz in the 70s. Birdland was a quasi popular song. Hell, Manhattan Transfer made a cover of it. pukkkkke. Nice to see the reference thrown in their though.

Yes and he played acoustic bass in A Mighty Wind the folk music parody. He is a bass player.

Alf Clausen is the MD. Minneapolis born and a bassist. Raised in Jamestown, ND, which is around where I grew up. I'm glad I looked him up in Wiki! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alf_Clausen

you don't have to play bass to appreciate Weather Report

and in my case, you don't have to like Weather Report to play bass.

Yeah..I'd have guessed that seeing as how the title of the episode was

'How Munched Is That Birdie In The Window' .

Just a hunch I went on.
