Jamerson book with cd

Sign in to disble this ad
Since I am fairly new to the bass (played mostly trumpet and guitar in highschool, would sometimes fill in with my brothers band on bass) Anyways I felt if I wanted to really saturate myself with bass why not start off with James Jamerson....I ordered this book and am looking forward to getting it.....can I get some feedback on those of you out there that have this? Thanks.

Obvioulsy James must not be on the tracks but I notice Jamerson Jr. (Son?) Geddy Lee, Marcus Miller, Entwistle etc listed on the front cover...so I am sure the cd's are pretty decent.

It's great...even with Marcus slapping a bit towards the end of "I Was Made To Love Her".

Work thru those transcriptions & you should see a marked improvement in your playing.

,,,and yes, Jamerson, Jr. is his son.

Good choice. If you want to hear Jamerson play those same songs, there's a 2 CD set that has cuts from the soundtrack of the movie on one cd and remasters on the other.

The remasters is what you really want (IMO). The original recordings were used (without vocals) and the mix brings the bass to the front so you can hear Jamerson very well.
