Jamerson's inspiration

Anyone noticed the similarity between the bass line in:

"Aint no mountain high enough" (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell version).

and the intro to:

The Velvelettes - It keeps reminding me (of happy memories).

- or are my ears decieving me?

More than likely. The similarity is remarkable and unmistakable.

I'm wondering what came first? Jamerson's line, that intro. - or both?

... who was inspiring who?
