Jamming through computer speakers

Sign in to disble this ad
So the other night I get invited over by my buddy for a guys night out, I know its going to be me and my two best friends who we have been talking about starting up a band and never getting around to practicing. Anyways I figure I will bring a few things along with me just in case we want to jam. I brought my pf-500 and when we decide to jam I just hook up into his Korg multi-track recorder, so we have three of us, one guy on guitar, another with a synth and sample or something and me on bass all running into the recorder and the recorder is hooked up to some decent computer speakers. I was concerned as we we setting this all up but once all the levels were adjusted it actually sounded good, nice balanced mix with a very studio sounding vibe. It was also great because his place is an apartment so we could jam without being overly loud.

So yesterday I tried a version of this at home since I don't commute my cab all that often seeing as it doesn't fit in my car. I have a set of m-audio 40 watt speakers i ran my headphone jack off my pf500 into, it actually makes for a decent bedroom practice set-up.

Anyone else doing something like this? Thoughts or suggestions?

I'm currently making a move from guitar playing to bass, had been playing for almost a year now.

Never got around to buying an amp since I didn't feel the "need" to own one, I would use whatever they had on rehearsal spaces.

for home practicing I have been plugging my Strat into a Zoom G1N multi effects pedal and in the output I would connect headphones.

One day I wondered what would happen if I connected some computer speakers instead of the heaphones, I did it and it worked perfectly, OF COURSE there's no comparison between this amateurish home setup and a real amp.

So whenever I want to get an amp feel I've used them without any problem.

Now the question is what will happen if I ever try to pull this off with a bass
