Definitely bums me out. A great guy and a tremendous inspiration.

Man, this is sad. He was such an important part of the band during my favorite era of theirs. RIP

Jay Bennett is not Gone

This is a real shock, very sad. I spent time in Champaign Urbana in the 80's and remember his old band Titanic Love Affair. When he wasn't gigging he was usually down at the Rose Bowl trading licks with the Country pickers. In the 90's we crossed paths when he was with Tommy Keene recording the 'Isolation Party' release. We both played on a track "Long Time Missing", and I believe he played bass on some other tracks as well.
He was talented in so many ways as we all learned later. I didn't know him well, but if I had to sum him up in one word it would be 'Integrity'. Jay Bennett is not Gone.
