John McLaughlin gig 1979 - remember?

I thought I'd ask this after reading the Mahavishnu thread.

I think the greatest performance by any musicians that I ever saw was at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park, London in November 1979 (although Jaco with Weather Report the year after came pretty close, as did Bill Bruford's band).

John McLaughlin was touring Europe with Billy Cobham on drums, Jack Bruce on bass and Stu Goldberg on keyboards. Anybody else here who caught this performance or any of the other dates on the tour?

I think I have a boot of that tour!

I know I have Billy with Jack... I might have been a McLaughlin show. I'll dig later

If there's anyway I can get a copy of that (legally, I have to add), I'd be extremely grateful! Hope that doesn't sound as contradictory to everyone else as it does to me...

John and Jack?
Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't that two extremes?

Well...they were both classically trained I understand, but John took a more fusion jazz approach, while jack took a more pop rock approach.

Maybe i'm just missing out on Jack's true abilities?

Jack's actually done a lot of stuff you might be surprised at, then. I gotta dash now, will post more info later.

EDIT Here you go - wiki reference, but it will get you started.
