i saw john scofield with medeski martin and wood saturday night in chicago. i'm a long time mmw fan and i have heard many scofiled recordings but this was my first time seeing him live....

scofiled had two solos that were the most amazing guitar solos i have ever seen live (granted he had the dopest ryhthm section ever behind him )

HOLY FREAKING COW i mean he just BLEW ME AWAY...he is a FREAKING MONSTER....i mean i knew he is one of "the greats" but i've never heard him EXPLODE like that...

good golly....

There's no doubt that Scofield can play but he is just so painful to watch.

In all the videos I've seen of him he is awkwardly stiff and uncomfortable. Looks like he's about to have a seizure or something.

Nice description... I'm a fan, too. Never seen him live, but I've got some videos.

I saw MSM&W earlier this month. Incredible show. Sco didn't look stiff at all and he played some incredible stuff.

I wanted to go see them so bad on SAturday in Chicago or Sunday in Indy but wasnt able to . Im gonna get Out Louder this weekend. Ive heard a few recordings of MMW and I enjoy the whole band. Is Out Louder a good album to start with , I havent seen to many reviews on it , does everybody get solos , I always like that about MMW everybody could solo

As far as his playing goes, 'stiff' is the last word I'd use...

the man is just incredible. Listen to 'Uberjam' ... great record, not really his sound but he made it convincing. There's some incredible guitar work on it! Medeski and Karl Denson play solos on the 2nd track.

As far as I'm concerned, he is the master of the 'groove jazz' genre; there's no Charlie Hunter without Sco kind of thing. Check out 'Loud Jazz' with Dennis Chambers (!) and Gary Grainger...

I saw Sco at Tipatina's in New Orleans. Incredible.

I stood right at his feet and it was cool watching him recreate the Uberjam sounds with his samplers and effects.

Topaz opened up. They were a great discovery for me that night!

Me and some friends worked up Blackout from the Bump album and we're playing it live tomorrow. I can't wait.
