Just go find a Chicago tribute band, pay 10 dollar cover, and almost the same experience. |

Someone had said they were a shell of their former selves and that's true. I think there's only like 4 original members left but they still sound da*n good live. |

I'm thinking I paid far less than that and got to see Chicago double billed with Earth Wind and Fire a few years ago at Red Rocks, Colorado. They shared the stage for a few songs and assisted on each other's hits. It was amazing.
Enjoy the show. Making the woman happy will be worth every penny.

I remember Chicago in the 70's clearly - one of the tightest, best sounding rock/brass bands ever. There were a number of really cool bands like Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Blood Sweat & Tears...all combined a rock band with a heavy dose of brass and sax...the sound was fantastic. I miss hearing more of that sound today...to play tight and right in that kind of setting requires top musicians.

| | | | Seeing a band that's not really any of the original or integral members is kind of wierd to me. I remember going and seeing The Diamonds with my father back when I was a senior in high school, but none of them were the original Diamonds. They were just playing under the Diamonds' name. They referred to themselves in the third person, which I thought was kind of wierd, e.g., "Silohettes was a hit song for the Diamonds in 1957."
Are there any original members left in Blood, Sweat, and Tears? That band's pretty much had about a bazillion different players throughout the years. I guess that's to be expected of bands that are more than five-piece, though.

To my disappointment, they've been milking the "let's listen to schmaltzy ballads in the Jacuzzi" genre for about 30 years now.
I can't say that hasn't made them a lot of money, though. I read a news article a few years ago that referred to Jimmy Pankow's ex-wife and her multi-million-dollar Malibu home. I thought, "Hmmm, the rock trombonist's ex-wife got the mansion. I wonder if that's ever happened before, or since." |
