I know it's pretty basic (very basic) but It's just to learn on and play around with.

I've heard they are useful for ear training and theory. How? Could someone elaborate?

Well you can actually play different types of chords, hear how they sound and get that sound in your head !!

You could also set up a chord as a drone - continuous sustain - and then experiment to see how differnet lines played on your bass, sound against that chord - more or less dissonant etc.

While I'm here, does anyone know what this means?

"Chords can also be played either normally or in synchro."

See I just bought it an hour ago, so I haven't got my hands on it yet.
