This one however seems legit.
What a great artist.

She has to actually sing the part to minimize the appearance of lip-syncing, but what's the need to sing it in full voice with accurate pitch? She's doing all kinds of activity up there, and would probably have a tough time singing at studio quality. She also sounds short of breath in some places.
I'm not defending the whole lip-syncing thing, but most of the kiddies in the audience either don't know or don't care if she's doing it. It's as much a visual spectacle as audio ... you know, entertainment. (Not anything that I would pay money to see, but I don't exactly fall into her fan demographic.)
That whole genre of music is more about marketing than it is about talent. My preference is seeing performers who have the talent to actually play and sing their music live. You know, people like Esperanza Spalding or Tommy Emmanuel.

tell her that the mic is live and let her stand still and sing one of these like she did in the sound booth when she recorded this and you'll hear better quality I'm sure. |

You know, people like Esperanza Spalding or Tommy Emmanuel. | I have a good buddy who works for Clair Bros, and also runs around the country doing sound for these massive pop-star shows. He says most, if not all of the female artists who's stage shows involve elaborate dancing and stage architecture lip-sync. He also states that ALL of the teen-idol pop stars lip-sync, and that he hears their actual mic feed, and has on at least one occasion asserted that one star's album was not actually thoroughly processed in Pro Tools to sound like she could really sing, but that her album was recorded by someone else entirely!!
This DOES happen most of the time.... they are almost always lip syncing |

Those guys took so much heat for doing essentially the same thing. One of them felt so much pain from the fall out, he killed himself.
I guess as a musician, I expect to hear music *performed* at a concert. Call me crazy!
So do the guitars, bass and keys all fake it too?
I dont mean to pick on Britney as she has had a number of challenges in the past, but I just dont get this.
Kids these days!
