Just got back from France and Spain - Jerzy Drozd content

My family and I just got back from a tour of Paris, Tours, Lyon, Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Zaragosa, Barcelona, Toledo and Madrid.

The high point of the tour for me? The hour and a half I spent with Jerzy Drozd at his shop in Barcelona. We had an excellent conversation about how he builds his basses and the effects of different components of a bass on its sound. He is extremely passionate about what he does and his experience lends a lot of credence to his views on what makes a bass sound the way it does. The final verdict ... yes, the wood does make a difference.

You will not meet a nicer person than Jerzy. He was very kind in taking the time to show me around his shop and chat. The quality of his work is unsurpassed.

I'll talk more about the trip later in OT. That's all for now.

For the record, I found the French people to be friendly and helpful. Moreso than the Spaniards, who were less engaging. In France, the magic words seemed to be "bon jour." Once you greeted them with that, they didn't mind speaking English. For some reason, the Spanish didn't respond as well to "buenos anus."
