Just pulled out my dad's old guitar..

I just pulled out my dad's old guitar (never even new he played) and i'm taking a look at it. It's a Lafayette, looks pretty nice, and has a wammy bar. Only problem is, after about forty years of no use the strings are completely shot.

So, I having no knowledge at all in the world of guitar strings and asking for your help. What type of strings do I put on this? Also, I would like the strings to be fairly cheap and a full set.

Thx.

Not familiar with the Lafayette brand, but guitar strings (IMO and IME) are much more basic than bass strings. D'Addario XL's are pretty basic, standard and whatnot. I'd recommend EXL110's... .010-.046 gauges.

Like I said, D'Addario EXL110's are my weapon of choice.

Regular Nickel Light 10-46 located here:

Yes. Guitar strings are relatively cheap, but don't last as long as bass strings. I go through a few 10 packs a year.

+1 on D'Addario XL's, I've been using those for both guitar and bass for about 5 million years now.

Elixers.

I keep the wound strings and just change out the higher ones when they break/corrode.
