I'm going to be in Kansas City for a couple of days next week for work and was wondering if anyone could tell me some cool live music venues I could check out while I'm there. I've never been there before but do know there is a rich musical history in that city. I'll be at the Marriott, so close by there would be awesome.

Thanks!

There's more than one Marriott, is it the location on 12th, Main, Metcalf or Airport?

+1, the crossroads is pretty good too. I actually work less than two blocks from Knuckleheads.

What type of music do you want?

Knuckelhead
BB's Lawnside BBQ
Crossroads
Theres a new place that just opened a few weeks ago i think its called the power & light club or something like that (not to be confused with the "power and light district" which is an bar district for yuppies)
18th and Vine District (Not in the best neighbor hood, but definatly worth checking out)

When you get here grab a Pitch Weekly and look for the music section.

Depending on what kind of music you're looking for you can check out:

The Brick http://thebrickkcmo.com/shows.asp

Crosstown Station http://crosstownstation.com/cms/inde...gcal&Itemid=28

Czar Bar http://czarbar.com/

And, again, Knuckleheads http://www.knuckleheadskc.com/ (been mentioned, but possibly one of the best places to see live music in KC)
