I'm going to be in Richmond KY for several days in mid-September (9/10 thru 9/14), and as best as I can figure out, Richmond has plenty-o-nothing going on (but I might be very wrong ). I know that Nashville is about 4 hours away, Lexington is maybe 45 minutes +/-, other than that I'm clueless about KY ......

Is there anything musically good going on around there? Any TB Kentucky residents gigging in the area? Or am I doomed to sight-seeing during the day while my wife is at a conference ....

Not much in Richmond itself other than Eastern KY University and plenty of places for students to get soused.
There are some venues in Lexington (which is more like 30 minutes depending on traffic) such as The Dame that offer excellent chances to hear some good music. Lexington also is the home of Willcutt Guitars (very cool shop) and a GC location, plus some good dining opportunities at, say, DeShay's downtown. Try the Kentucky Hot Brown for some of the culinary culture of the area.
Maybe hop over to the Kentucky Horse Park on the northeast side of Lexington.
Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the info

I kinda thought Lexington was the best bet, and I'll have a lot of free time to run around. From what I've seen of the general area, KY is really quite pretty .....
