Keyboard Poll

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright, I've asked this question before so now I've decided to make it a poll. What keyboard workstation should I get? I've played on quite afew but I'm finding it hard to decide. I've always liked Kurzweil but I hear that they are a little out dated these days, at least in comparison to say Yamaha or Roland. I'm most familiar with Yamaha, that's all I've ever owned, and I've always been happy with their boards but I wonder if I should stick with it or try something new.

If I could justify it, I'd have a Motif as well.

I've had a Roland XP-80 for about 10 years and it has served my really well. The new, current Roland workstations are great too.

And I also love the Yamaha Motif - a great all around keyboard, but it seems that everybody is using them these days.

That is one thing that concerns me about the Yamaha Motif. I love the board but I think the sounds may be getting a little overplayed. I would like to have something a little original sounding, which leans me towards Kurzweil. I don't hear about half as many people playing them as say a Motif or Fantom.

Bump. Are there any more opinions, developments, or votes on this topic, 10 months later?

I'm not ready for a $2K+ synthesizer, but got interested in the Motif vs Triton vs Fantom discussion. This thread came up. Currently working with a dated Yamaha PSR-530 keyboard. Arranging+computer integration and performance are near-future interests, and it looks like both Mac and Windows are supported with Cubase, butr I'm not sure if Yamaha, Roland, or Korg have the best Cubase integration. Thanks for any more votes, opinions, comments, or findings, pertaining to features, usability, and computer integrations, if you have them.

Well, I started this poll, and I ended up purchasing a Yamaha Motif es8. It is one awsome piece of work! There are so many sounds in that thing, I haven't even really figured out how to use half of what it's capable of. I figure it's going to take me a long time considering that this is my first workstation.
