hmmm I see that and it puts me to shame, but then I remember I gave up on slap&pop because I simply suck at it so I quit trying, I like tapping better.

Not so sure. I don't want to be quick to criticize a kid, but the truth is that technique doesn't mean anything if good time is lacking. And it is in this video. If he was tight with the drummer, that would put the video over the top!!!
