Kinda worried about recording our demo

We are going to lay down stuff for a demo to give to clubs, potential party givers, etc. We are doing this at home. My guitarist's brother is an engineer and is bringing preamps, etc. and is very, very good.

My only recording experiences are over 20 years old, were done in a studio, and done "live." We will be doing our parts individually and using a scratch guitar track to build upon. Everything except drums are going to be recorded direct. All of this will be new to me and I hope I can get it done!
