She was killed while SCUBA diving off Chankanaab Park in Cozumel (I go to Cozumel at least once a year - beautiful place). The boat that ran over her belonged to a Mexican gov't official, and the litigation got rather nasty. Her hit "In These Shoes" made the charts (sadly) after her death.
