The official YouTube video channel of American glam legends Kiss has been closed for breaching copyright laws – just weeks after bassist Gene Simmons controversially called for all rights breakers to be sued and jailed.

We've had some discussions over the P2P and copyright infringement business over the last few weeks on TB. Thought this thread would be relevant

However, their channel has been down since early summer.
Although, to me, KISS accidentally using a video of themselves without a random party's permission is somewhat less significant than people downloading and stealing a crapload of music.
Not defending Gene and his big mouth, but I dont think these two happenings are anywhere near being on the same level of severity.

It's interesting how quickly people were getting on Gene's case without all the facts. (he's still a doosh, though.)

Morally it may be different, but there is a chance the financial ramifications could be just as bad.

Including Gene. If you do something immoral/illegal, you don't have a right to criticise others as viciously as Gene. Simple as that.
But I really don't think Gene's comments about suing downloaders, etc. should be taken all that seriously. He's been a publicity seeker since we now and there's a fair chance his actions were dictated by this urge, rather than being guided totally by actual disgust for downloaders. Quote:

| And downloading is still not still stealing. According to the US Supreme Court.
