Anybody have any experence with these? I found a model from the 80's in mint condition for 500.00 and thought about picking it up for my band to use. I know they sound great, but I'm wondering about reliability issues,etc.. I figure it's an easy way to get some better Hammond sounds in the music.

Get it.

They sound pretty good and don't weigh too much. Now you just need a good Leslie equivalent and you are set.

The only guys I know who had them never had major problems, but I can't say if that's because it's a good machine, or if they just took really good care of theirs, or if they just got lucky.

I have one of the "newer" versions and I love it. The old 80's version are built like tanks from what I understand, but I would imagine that the newer version has a better Leslie speaker simulation. $500 is probably a pretty fair price if it's in good shape and I know that there are many "vintage" CX-3's still out there getting played. I have owned 3 Korg keyboards (M1, 01/WFD, and CX-3) and they have all been very reliable.

This one is early 80's in mint condition. A close friend of mine has it,and I'm going to check it out today or Thursday. He even has a chopped B-3 that he's parting with too.

Man, you can't beat "the Euphonious Wail" of a B3, but ugh, the weight of those things.

But they sure have a glorious sound.

I worked with guy that treated his like total crap.

It never failed in the oh, 15 or so years he used it.

CX-3 in action

Hey 73jbass, did you decide to get the CX-3?

I recorded a little clip earlier this week with my Korg CX-3 that turned out pretty well. Digital B3 emulations can do some things very well and others not so well.

Check out "PopJazz Groove" on my MySpace page.

Thanks for listening.
