It's time to acquire a pedal tuner for gigging. I am no longer using my rack tuner (Korg DTR-1000) and my Korg GA-30 is not the most convenient thing to use on gigs. The contenders are: Korg DT-10 Pros: +/- 1 cent accuracy, prior experience with Korg tuners, appears to be well made, fairly large display for my aging eyes. Cons: size, I/O jacks at top of unit instead of sides. Not true by-pass (I play passive basses and use mostly non true by-pass pedals - adding another one is always a concern) Planet Waves PW-CT-04 Pros: Compact pedal with side jacks, true by-pass, BIG display Cons: +/- 3 cent accuracy
Both of these tuners are close price-wise. The Planet Waves tuner looks like it full-fill my needs well BUT...is the accuracy difference a deal killer?

It is really durable (steel frame) and looks very classy too. The LED's are bright so you can tune even in the darkest bar. I love this thing to death. Hope you choose the right one. |

Needless to say he sold on the TU-2, and I liked the DT-10 so much I got one for christmas '05.
It's such a lovely tuner, it's been reliable and I've never had any problems in the 18 months I've had it. Batteries tend to last for ages as well! Plus, it looks alot more sexy than the TU-2 anyway

a) It's smaller
b) Has the TU-2 style power daisy chaining
I've never had an issue with the accuracy of the tuning |

It has a TU-2 type tuner mode, as well as a strobe tuner mode if you prefer. It also has the power daisy chain feature. Never had any trouble with accuracy. |

Are flat tunings a problem with the Planet Waves tuner?
thank you |

The little # sign near the note display will tell you if a note is sharp, eg. D# as opposed to D. If you want down 1/2 step say, then you'll tune to D#(Eb), G#(Ab), C#(Db), F#(Gb) |

My amp has a mute switch, so that's not as important to me for the tuner.
Thanks! |

I use one now. It's as accurate as I need it to be, very responsive, and has a HUGE, bright display. Wonderful in dark areas.
It looks like it'd do just fine under brighter conditions, too, but I haven't confirmed this yet.
